The Overreach Files is a citizen-focused investigative publication examining the use of municipal authority and its effects on ordinary people.

Our mission

We ask four basic questions: What authority exists? What does the evidence show? Was that authority properly exercised? And are citizens being treated consistently and fairly?

Editorial independence

Advertising, sponsorships, memberships and donations will never be sold in exchange for favorable coverage or the removal of unfavorable reporting.

Corrections

If we make a factual error, we will correct it. We will distinguish facts, allegations, opinions and legal conclusions.
